Summary
AMG Vanadium (AMG V) is seeking an Engineering Intern to join our growing team at our Cambridge and Zanesville, Ohio facilities. In this position, you will be responsible for providing engineering and technical support for the AMG V Melt Shop (Electric Arc Furnaces) and Roaster operations.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead by example and comply with all AMG V safety and environmental requirements, policies, and procedures, including AMG’s Code of Business Conduct
- Embrace and promote the AMG V culture in all day-to-day activities; foster and promote a positive, respectful work environment that is aligned with AMG’s values
- Assist with the development, assessment, and implementation of process improvements that increase equipment reliability, productivity, capacity, throughput, quality, and efficiency; assist Operations and Engineering to optimize Melt Shop and Roaster production while reducing cost
- Assist with continuous improvement activities
- Collect data and apply standard scientific and statistical methods to measure, analyze, document, and evaluate operational processes; develop and maintain reports to track, monitor, and report key data
- Support capital improvement projects
- Assist with risk analysis of equipment, processes, and systems
Qualifications/Skills/Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s in Chemical, Metallurgical, Material Science, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering required
- Sophomore status or higher required
- Previous internship experience a plus; heavy industrial experience also a plus
- Strong process/technical/analytical skills
- Excellent critical and logical thinking skills; problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and facilitation skills
- Excellent command of Microsoft Office (Excel), knowledgeable in MS Project Management, Matlab, Minitab, CAD, and Thermo-Calc Software applications preferred
